Governors
All schools in England have a Governing Body which is responsible for overseeing many of the strategic decision of the school. The Governing Body works in close partnership with the Headteacher, staff and the Local Authority. The governors are involved with such things as staffing, curriculum, school buildings and finance.Membership of the Governing Body includes parents, teaching staff and representatives from the local community and the Local Authority. Being a school governor is both rewarding and challenging experience.
The governing body has a range of duties and powers with a view to promoting high standards of educational achievement. This includes:
- setting targets for pupil achievement
- managing the school's finances
- making sure the curriculum is balanced
- appointing senior staff
- reviewing staff performance and pay
- deciding how, in strategic terms, the school should be run.
The Governing Body meets at least once each term. Our governing body operates under the circle model and share collective responsibility of governance. Our governors do not have any business or financial interests in our school.
All governors to the school Governing Body must be elected. Further information on the role of a governor can be found on the Kcc Website.
